Friendship

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

When two people become close friends they soon adopt each other’s mannerism and attitudes. They share all confidences, joys and sorrows. They give themselves generously to each other.

Our Lord wants to be our friend. He said: “I have called you friends, because all things that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.” (John 15:14) He shares all with us. He gives Himself totally to us.

Now since Our Lord is our friend, His interests must be our interests. We must adopt His attitudes. We must give ourselves completely to Him. He reminds us: “you are my friends if you do the things I have commanded you.’

The greater our friendships with Our Lord, the closer we are to Him, the more Christ like we become. This is what it means to be a Christian.
